SHELL SCRIPTS

The following are POSIX compliant shell scripts that I have mainly written for personal use. I've decided to share them in case anyone is interested or needs a point of reference to create something similar. In most cases they're designed to be mapped to keyboard shortcuts. Most of these were written while teaching myself shell scripting. I am by no means an expert. If you see a glaringly obvious issue that could be improved upon, please let me know.

OpenBSD versions below are likely newer and more complete. Since I no longer use linux much on the desktop, those versions will not be updated anymore.

OPENBSD

crypto.sh - A quick script to pull crypto currency values and format them in order to be displayed in lemonbar. It's currently only being used in the herbstluftwm version below.

dfetch - Minimal script to fetch and display system information. This version only works on OpenBSD. The field wm is currently static text. If you know how to fetch this dynamically, please let me know. [ Screenshot ]

rofi.sh - A single line script for a customized rofi launcher. Launches full screen and is intended to be used with a compositor for transparency.

mpv.sh - A simple script that prompts for a URL via rofi and sends the associated video stream to mpv in full screen. Works with practically any video stream.

search.sh - This script randomly distributes search queries through a predefined list of searx instances for increased privacy. Requires rofi to accept input URL.

yt.sh - A quick script to simplify youtube downloads. Using the youtube-dl package, it allows you to quickly choose and save audio, video, or thumbnail images. Also requires rofi to prompt for input variables. Works with practically every video streaming site, not just youtube. Works best with a key mapping to initialize it. I have mine currently capped at 1080p for video quality and max audio quality.

VOID LINUX (NOT UPDATED)

dfetch - Minimal script to fetch and display system information. This only works on void linux since it uses xbps-query for the package count, but it can be modified to be used with any distribution. The field de is currently static text. If you know how to fetch this dynamically, please let me know. [ Screenshot ]

nas - Personal script to mount and unmount six network shares on two separate NAS servers. The command nas by itself lists the current status, while nas [name] [up/down] will mount or unmount all shares associated with that device. In this setup, the password files are owned by root to keep them hidden. * Currently written in bash, still need to make it POSIX compliant.
